A cilice was originally a garment or undergarment made of coarse fabric or animal hair (a hair shirt). In more recent times, the word no longer refers to a hair shirt, but to a metal pointed belt or chain worn tightly around the thighs.
The cilice has been used for centuries in the lives of saints, but is also a well-known tool in BDSM.
The series of cilice belts we import are still made in the original way by Italian nuns. We have put together a series of traditional whole and half chains made of different metals of varying thickness and weight.
As our necklaces, belts and hair shirts are handmade, all sizes given are approximate. Colours and materials may differ from the images.
